Paul McManus

Senior Vice President

 

 

Paul is a Senior Vice President and Senior Fiduciary Strategist at First State Trust. He assists our financial advisor partners on a national basis with trusts, estate planning, and complex wealth transfer solutions for their high-net worth clients and families.

 

Paul started his career in 1994 in institutional asset management and trading with one of the pioneers in the Family Office space, Flavin, Blake & Company. In 1997, Paul joined Citigroup Asset Management heading up their off-shore equity, derivative and mutual fund trading for Citi Private Bank’s global clients. He served as Senior Portfolio Manager at Legg Mason from 2005 to 2008, responsible for $2 Billion in tailored portfolios until his team was acquired by Morgan Stanley. At Morgan Stanley, Paul was a founding member of the team who created the open architecture, third-party trust platform for the firm. Paul was the Head of National Alliance Business Development at RBC Trust Company and City National Bank, N.A. and also co-head of the Ultra High Net Worth Trust solutions business at Comerica Bank & Trust, N.A. prior to joining First State Trust.

 

Paul graduated from The Frederick Gunn School and received his bachelor’s degree in History, Spanish and Political Science from Ohio Wesleyan University. He received his MBA in Finance and International Business from the John F. Welch School of Business at Sacred Heart University. Paul obtained the Certified Trust Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation in 2016 from the American Bankers Association. Paul is fluent in Spanish and currently serves as trustee for The Frederick Gunn School in Washington, CT.
